Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Teasatia tea different from grocery store tea bags?

Most commercial tea bags contain tea dust and fannings—the lowest grade tea particles that brew quickly but lack complexity. Our whole leaf teas preserve the leaf's natural structure, oils, and flavor compounds. The compostable pyramid bag design allows leaves to fully unfurl during steeping, just like loose leaf tea, while maintaining convenience.

Are your tea bags really compostable?

Yes. Our pyramid tea bags are made from plant-based, compostable materials, not plastic. You can compost them in your home compost or municipal compost bin. Unlike conventional tea bags that often contain plastic to seal them, ours break down naturally without leaving microplastics behind.

How long does whole leaf tea stay fresh?

Properly stored whole leaf tea maintains quality for 12-18 months. Store in a cool, dry place away from strong odors, light, and moisture. Our sealed packaging preserves freshness until you're ready to brew.

Can I resteep your teas multiple times?

Absolutely. Whole leaf teas are designed for multiple infusions. Oolong teas can steep 4-6 times, green teas 2-3 times, and black teas 2-3 times. Each steep reveals different flavor layers and extends the value of your tea.

What does 'unblended' mean?

Unblended means pure, single-origin tea with nothing added. No flavoring oils, no flower petals, no spices—just the tea leaves themselves. The flavors you taste are inherent to the cultivar and processing method, not additives.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently ship throughout the United States. For international shipping inquiries, please contact us directly so we can provide a custom quote.

How should I brew whole leaf tea?

Each tea has specific brewing parameters listed on the product page. Generally: green teas use cooler water (175-185°F), while oolongs and black teas use hotter water (195-212°F). Start with shorter steeping times and adjust to taste.

What's the difference between organic and conventional tea?

Certified organic tea is grown without synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers. Given that you're steeping and drinking the leaf, organic certification ensures no chemical residues end up in your cup. It's also better for tea workers and ecosystems.

Where exactly in Asia do your teas come from?

Our teas come from traditional tea-growing regions in China and Taiwan known for specific cultivars. We work with tea gardens that have generations of expertise—whether Jinxuan cultivars, Huading mountain teas, or traditional oolong production areas.

Why are some of your teas out of stock?

As a small business focusing on quality, we source limited quantities directly from tea gardens. When we sell out of a harvest, we wait for the next seasonal picking rather than compromising with lower-grade substitutions. You can sign up for restock notifications on product pages.
