Sustainability - Compostable Tea Bags & Organic Tea Commitment

SUSTAINABILITY: NO SHORTCUTS, NO GIMMICKS

At Teasatia, sustainability isn't a marketing angle—it's a core principle that guides every decision we make. From how tea is grown to how it reaches your cup, we prioritize environmental responsibility and transparency.

COMPOSTABLE TEA BAGS: THE PLASTIC PROBLEM SOLVED

The Hidden Plastic in Tea Bags:
Most conventional tea bags contain plastic. Manufacturers use polypropylene or nylon to seal bags and prevent them from falling apart in hot water. When you steep these bags, microscopic plastic particles (microplastics) leach into your tea and end up in your body.

Our Solution:
Our pyramid tea bags are made from 100% plant-based, compostable materials. No plastic, no nylon, no polypropylene. They break down completely in home or municipal composting systems, returning to soil without leaving microplastics behind.

CERTIFIED ORGANIC TEA FARMING

What Organic Certification Means:
Our teas are certified organic by strict European organic standards. This certification requires:
- No synthetic pesticides or herbicides
- No chemical fertilizers
- Soil health management through natural methods
- Biodiversity preservation

Why It Matters for Tea:
Unlike fruit where you remove the peel, you steep and drink the entire tea leaf. Any chemicals used in growing appear in your cup. Organic certification ensures that what you're drinking is pure tea, not pesticide residues.

UNBLENDED, UNFLAVORED: REAL TEA ONLY

No Artificial Flavorings:
We don't add flavoring oils, essence, or "natural flavors" to our teas. The honey notes in our Honey Roasted Oolong come from traditional roasting methods, not honey flavoring. The fruity notes in our Golden Day Lily Black Tea come from the Jinxuan cultivar itself, not added fruit essence.

CARBON FOOTPRINT CONSIDERATIONS

Shipping Reality:
Tea must travel from Southern China to the United States. We acknowledge this transportation footprint and work to minimize it through consolidation and ocean freight priority.

Offset Through Quality:
Our whole leaf teas can be steeped multiple times, meaning each package provides more cups of tea than single-use tea bags. This extends value and reduces waste per cup.

WHAT WE'RE STILL WORKING ON

Sustainability is a journey, not a destination. We are actively improving our carbon neutrality efforts, exploring new packaging innovations, and increasing supply chain transparency.

Questions About Our Sustainability Practices:
