Experience the transformation of time with our 2024 Xianglong Aged White Tea Cake. While fresh white teas are prized for their floral delicacy, aged white tea is celebrated for its deep, medicinal richness. This 350g cake is a 7-year "treasure," crafted from 2019 Shoumei tea leaves and pressed in early 2024 to lock in a decade of evolving character.

In China, there is a saying for aged white tea: "One year tea, three years medicine, seven years treasure." Having reached its seventh year, this tea has matured into a rare, collector-grade experience.

As white tea ages, its chemical composition shifts, transforming light floral notes into deep, complex sugars. This Xianglong cake uses Shoumei—a harvest that includes larger, more mature leaves and stems—which provides the structural integrity needed for long-term aging.

The "Wake-Up" Rinse: Unlike our fresh loose-leaf white teas, this compressed cake requires a rinse. Because the tea has been aged and pressed, a quick initial steep "wakes up" the leaves, allowing them to unfurl and release their deep, concentrated flavors. This also cleanses the tea after its long maturation process, ensuring the purest cup.

WHAT DOES THIS TEA TASTE LIKE?

Expect a profile that is warm, comforting, and incredibly smooth, with absolutely no astringency.

  • Palate: A thick, soft, and mellow texture that feels heavy and "round" on the tongue.

  • Flavor: Dominated by a rich red date (jujube) sweetness and honeyed undertones, grounded by sophisticated woody notes.

  • Aroma: A profound Chen Xiang (aged aroma) featuring hints of dried tangerine peel and herbal medicinal notes. It finishes with a warming, long-lasting sweetness.

WHERE DOES THIS TEA COME FROM?

This tea is sourced from Fuding, Fujian, the world-renowned "capital of white tea." Fuding’s coastal climate and mineral-rich soil are uniquely suited for producing white teas that age gracefully.

This Fuding Shoumei is selected for its ability to transform over time. The maturation process has turned these 2019 leaves into a "treasure" that offers not just a unique flavor, but a traditional remedy often used to soothe the body and warm the spirit.

HOW TO BREW THIS WHITE TEA:

Parameter Recommendation
Water Temperature 212°F (100°C) Boiling water is essential to penetrate the compressed leaves.
Tea Amount Use a tea knife to gently pry a 5–7g chunk from the cake for a standard Gaiwan or teapot.
The Rinse (Mandatory)

Pour boiling water over the leaves and pour it out after 5–10 seconds. This "washes" the tea and prepares it for the first infusion.

Steeping Time
  • We recommend using a gaiwan or teapot with the Gongfu brewing method, which uses a higher leaf-to-water ratio and shorter steeping times to bring out the tea’s full complexity and evolving flavor profile.
  • 1st – 3rd Infusions: 20–30 seconds.
  • Subsequent Infusions: Gradually increase the time by 10–15 seconds for each additional pour.
  • You can usually re-steep the same leaves 8-12 times.
